Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says he needs two more eye surgeries

Mike Zimmer suffered a detached retina last Halloween and needed emergency surgery on his right eye a month later.

The Vikings coach, who has had four surgeries on his compromised eye so far, told reporters Thursday he will need two more procedures that will hopefully correct the issue for good.

Zimmer had surgery on Nov. 1 to repair a torn retina in his right eye, which was scratched during Minnesota’s 20-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Halloween. He was told by doctors to take care of the eye quickly and had a follow-up procedure a week later. But instead of taking time off, Zimmer was back at the team facility the next day and was squinting while facing bright lights during a press conference.

“Personally, I never even watched him, because he wasn’t a targeted guy for me in Cheap Qld Reds Jerseys our pre-draft assignments. But I can say now I would hope we draft someone that I’ve Cheap Red Sox Jerseys actually gotten a chance to watch.”

To be fair, there’s a good reason Fox didn’t spend much time with Clausen. As he says, the Notre Dame product was a projected early first-round pick and the Panthers didn’t have a first-round selection that year. So when their first pick came up in the second round, the quarterback-needy team decided to take Clausen.

The strategy didn’t work out as Clausen threw three touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games. He’s been a career backup ever since despite never really showing much promise.

As for the Bears, Fox plans to study the quarterbacks this go-round as Chicago will most likely be looking to move on from Jay Cutler.
