Dee Gordon breaks up Gio Gonzalez’s no-hitter in ninth inning

Gio Gonzalez took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Marlins, but Dee Gordon broke it up with a lead-off single.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker then pulled Gonzalez, who had thrown 106 pitches and left the field to an ovation from the crowd at Marlins Park.

“I’m not going to rush anything,” Contreras said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “I’m going to make sure when I get back I get back 100 percent.”

Contreras fell to the grass after running out a grounder Wednesday night in San Francisco and had to be helped off the field. The Cubs feared the worst, but the diagnosis at least leaves open the possibility that the 25-year-old will return before the end of the regular season.

The catcher’s injury came at the worst possible time, as he was coming off National League player of the week honors after hitting five home runs in six games last week. But the Cubs will have to ride with Alex Avila behind the plate in the meantime and hope that the trade-deadline acquisition can pull his weight until Contreras returns.

Analysls: The Diamondbacks, in need of infield depth after an injury to Wholesale NFL Jerseys Supply Chris Owings, picked up Youth Cheap Jerseys Rosales hours before the deadline in exchange for Mejia, a minor league right-hander.

Rosales, 34, batted .234/.273/.346 four home runs and 27 RBIs this season for Oakland. His main asset is his versatility; he can play all four infield positions and the corner outfield positions.
