Kings’ reported record $36M deal with Bogdan Bogdanovic continues makeover

The Sacramento Kings have made another move toward youth, though clearly not as a cost-saving measure, as their rebuild continues.

By making Bogdan Bogdanovic the highest-paid rookie in NBA history with a 3-year, $36 million deal, according to the Sacramento Bee, the Kings have handed the franchise’s future to younger players.

Considered one of the best shooters in Europe, he averaged 14.6 Fc Barcelona Cheap Jerseys points on 50 percent shooting last season, including 43 percent from 3-point range.

If Clayton Kershaw had taken his regular turn in the rotation, he would’ve started Wednesday, not Wood. But manager Dave Roberts used an off-day to juggle his rotation, getting an extra start for Kershaw before the All-Star break on Sunday, which, under MLB rules, will make the pitcher NL players voted to be their starter in Tuesday’s All-Star Game ineligible to pitch. Kershaw was more interested in the extra start. “He’s made it very clear his priority is the Dodgers,” Roberts said.

The NL determines a replacement for Kershaw, and the Dodgers appear confident Wood, 26, is the guy. “He’s very deserving,” Roberts said. “Obviously, he’s pitched well enough to join that team.” Said Wood: “It’s something you dream of as a kid. It’s hard to even fathom right now.” But it’s not so hard to fathom, considering the left-hander’s numbers: In addition to being 10-0, he has a 1.67 ERA, good enough to lead the majors, except …

Wood, unbeaten this season, didn’t even begin the year in the Dodgers’ rotation, so he doesn’t have enough innings to qualify for the league lead (a pitcher needs a minimum of one inning pitched per team game to qualify for the ERA title). But his ERA is a full quarter of a run better than NL leader Max Scherzer’s 1.94 ERA. Wood ranks 42nd in the NL in innings pitched but is good enough now to 1) get a win when the Find Cheap Jerseys Online Dodgers got one hit after the second inning and had a grand total of four Wednesday and 2) be an All-Star.
